Points of Interest

Points of Interest (POI)s

When building a route, you can add Points of Interest (POIs) as stops using the My Route component. Once added, the POI becomes a stop, and its pin will be added to the map. This makes it easy to add a stop that isn’t linked to a geocoded Salesforce record.

POIs added to a route are not saved with maps or routes. To save POIs for future use, it's recommended that they be added as custom object records and geocoded. Once geocoded, they can be loaded onto the map like any other object (e.g., Account, Lead) and saved to the route.

Adding a Point of Interest

To add a Point of Interest (POI) to a route:

1. Once you've created a route, go to the My Route component and click "Add POI."

2. In the search box, enter the POI name and location. For the best results, be as specific as possible. For example, instead of searching for "Starbucks," try searching for "Starbucks, 123 Main Street, New York, NY" for more accurate results.

3. After entering the POI name and location, click "Add" to include it in the route.

4. Once the POI is added, it will appear in the My Route component. To adjust its position in the route, click and drag the POI to the desired stop location.

Note: The POI will remain in the route as long as it's loaded. However, refreshing the map, creating a new route, or loading a saved route will remove the POI.

If you want to save POIs for future use, it is recommended that you create them as custom object records and geocode them. Once geocoded, they can be loaded onto the map like any other object (e.g., Account, Lead) and added to the route.
